"YOU ARE NOT ALONE" ELDERLY WEEK EVENT

Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University organized a meaningful event that prioritizes art lovers and social sensitivity! The exhibition titled “You Are Not Alone” Elderly Week Event, organized by the Department of Graphic Design, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, met with art lovers at the Grand Bazaar due to the weather opposition.

This special exhibition was organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersan Sarıkahya, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersan Sarıkahya, Dr. Lecturer Emel Uzuner and Lecturer from the Vocational School of Health Services. Assoc. Ayşegül Demir Sarıipek from the Vocational School of Health Services within the scope of a social responsibility project. In the project, where graphic design was used as a therapy tool, the message that elderly individuals are not alone was conveyed to the society through art. Our students İlayda Akman and Ahmet Emin Kaya also made important contributions to the project during the preparation process.

Prof. Dr. Emel Uzuner, Lecturer from Health Services Myo. Assist. Ayşegül Demir Sarıipek, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Bayrakcı, Lect. Assoc. Dr. Pınar Kurt and Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Merve İnci Altan participated.

In the event, whose artistic dimension was enriched with music, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kerem Özdemir, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkan Solmaz, Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Semih Sarıipek and Halit Bahadır Akgöz took the stage. Bandırma Rhythm Workshop and Women's Republican Band Ensemble also added color to the event under the instructors Serkan Kalaycılar and Dilek Karaaslan. Our guests and viewers honored our exhibition.

Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, Prof. Dr. Eylem Güzel said, “When the elderly are deprived of attention and love, they lose their strength and collapse like an abandoned building,” and pointed out that art is an important tool to connect with the elderly and to create social awareness. Finally, the Mayor of Bandırma, Dursun Mirza, stated that the municipality's services for the elderly continue to increase and that they will continue to support accessible and inclusive projects for all segments of society.

After the speeches, the event ended with the ribbon cutting and the opening of the exhibition to visitors. With this meaningful project, the place and value of elderly individuals in society was once again strongly emphasized.
